The Chloé cowboy boots to know this fall are the Azelan, a Western-inspired tall boot in vintage-effect calfskin with a pointed toe and a Cuban heel. It was $1,990 on chloe.com when we checked, in amber brown or black. If that’s more than you want to spend, our Save pick is the Dan Post Maria, a leather snip-toe cowboy boot that was $249.95 on Amazon. It is not the same boot, and we break down the differences below. Either way, the Texas way to wear the look is the way Chloé styled it: with a tiered or check midi, not with fringe.
Chemena Kamali’s Fall 2026 collection for Chloé was a prairie story. In her Vogue Runway review, Sarah Mower describes “Chloé prairie girls” in checked skirts, with tiered mousseline, faded checks, hand-knit Tyrolean sweaters and Victorian blouses. Clogs came back, along with Western boots and thigh-high Musketeer boots. Kamali traced it to Dutch folk costume. “For me, ‘folk’ means everything that is shared within a community,” she told Vogue. Marie Claire named Chloé, Celine and Gabriela Hearst as the fall cowboy-boot runways. This guide is part of Runway to Ranch, our series on wearing one runway idea with real Texas boots.

The rule: boots with tiers, not boots with fringe
The runway lesson is in the proportions. Chloé put its boots under full, swishy skirts and long check dresses, so the boot shows only when the hem moves. That is why the look reads romantic instead of rodeo. In Texas, where cowboy boots and fringe often show up together, the fresher move is the one Chloé made: one soft, tiered piece, one serious boot, and nothing else Western.
A full tiered hem, then a serious boot. That one pairing does all the work.
Look 1: Prairie tiers and an amber boot
For a Sunday lunch in the Hill Country, or a fall wedding where the dress code says “festive.”
Why it works: a tiered midi has volume at the hem, and a tall boot with a slim shaft gives that volume something clean to land on. Brown on brown keeps it warm and quiet, the way Chloé styled its checks and tiers. Look 2 on the runway put a gray blazer over a ruffled blouse and a tiered check skirt. Take that idea, but swap the runway mousseline for an easy cotton-blend tiered midi you can wear on a 75-degree October afternoon. The Azelan is the splurge here. Its amber brown calfskin has a vintage-effect finish, so it already looks broken in, and the hand-embroidered strap with the Chloé logo is the only branding on it. A brown tiered midi skirt from Amazon (about 33.8 inches long, with an elastic waist) gets you the silhouette for $25.19 when we checked.

Prairie tiers, amber boot
The formula: a tiered midi + a tall brown boot + a soft blazer. No fringe needed.
Look 2: A check midi and a black snip toe
For a gallery opening in Dallas or dinner on a cool night in Fort Worth.
Why it works: plaid and check are country fabrics, but a long, fluid check dress reads more Chloé than cowgirl, especially with a sharp black boot instead of a brown roper. On the runway, look 6 was a blue-and-yellow plaid dress with a ruffled hem and boots underneath. Our version is a long-sleeve red-and-brown plaid midi with a tie waist, which looks right from October to February. Pull the tie snug so the dress doesn’t swallow you, and let the boot toe show at the hem. This is where the Save boot goes. The Dan Post Maria has a leather upper and a leather sole, a snip toe, a 13-inch shaft and a 2-inch heel. In black it sits under a dark check dress the way the Azelan would, for about an eighth of the price.

The formula: one long check dress + a pulled-in waist + a black boot with a sharp toe.
Look 3: The Victorian blouse, denim and a tall boot
For a Saturday in Fredericksburg, or the office on a Friday.
Why it works: Kamali’s blouses turned Victorian this season, with high necks, ruffles and embroidery. In look 36, a cream embroidered blouse is worn with a logo buckle belt and brown leather trousers tucked into tall boots. Tucking pants into boots is a hard sell in Texas heat, so wear the blouse with dark bootcut jeans over the boot. The ruffled front and stand collar keep it romantic, and the denim keeps it practical. Tuck the blouse in and add your best belt, since that is where Chloé put its hardware. For more on pairing jeans and boots with tailoring, see our McQueen tailoring with cowboy boots guide.

Splurge vs. Save: Chloé Azelan vs. Dan Post Maria

Splurge: Chloé Azelan boot, $1,990 when we checked. Chloé lists vintage-effect calfskin uppers, a calfskin lining and insole, a cowhide sole and heel, a pointed toe, tonal topstitching, gold-tone hardware and a hand-embroidered logo strap on a high tube leg. The Cuban heel is 2.6 inches. It is made in Italy, fits true to size in European sizing, and comes in amber brown and black.
Save: Dan Post Maria, $249.95 when we checked (card 2 in Look 2). A leather upper and leather outsole, a snip toe, a 13-inch shaft, a 2-inch heel and a pull-on fit, in black.
They are not the same boot. Here is what the extra money buys, and what it doesn’t:
- Leather and finish: Chloé spells out calfskin inside and out, with a vintage-effect finish that looks worn in from day one. Dan Post’s listing says “leather upper” without naming the hide or the lining, and the finish is a classic polished black.
- Shaft height: the Azelan’s high tube leg is the runway proportion and fills the gap under a midi. The Maria’s 13-inch shaft is mid-calf, so it works better with jeans and longer midis than with knee-length skirts.
- Toe and heel: pointed toe and a 2.6-inch Cuban heel versus a snip toe and a 2-inch heel. The Maria is the easier boot to walk in all day. The Azelan is the dressier line.
- Construction: both use leather soles, which feel slick until they scuff in. Neither listing says how the sole is attached, so don’t assume either boot can be resoled. Ask a boot repair shop before you buy if that matters to you.
- Fit and quality reports: Amazon reviewers like the Maria’s soft leather and comfort, but reviews on fit and construction are mixed, with some reporting sizing problems, loose stitching or peeling leather. Chloé uses European sizing, so check its size chart before ordering.
- Branding: the Azelan’s embroidered strap is its only logo, and it is meant to be seen. If you want a boot nobody can name, that strap is the one thing to think about.
Our take: if you’ll wear tall boots under skirts all winter and want the runway shape, the Azelan is the one that delivers it. If you mainly want a sharp black cowboy boot for jeans and dresses, the Maria gets you most of the look for far less, as long as you buy from a seller with easy returns in case the size is off.
Where to wear it
- A fall wedding at a Hill Country venue: Look 1, with a blazer for after sunset
- Thanksgiving with family: Look 2, the check midi and black boots
- A Friday at the office, then happy hour: Look 3, with the blouse tucked into dark bootcut

Modern, not costume
Chloé’s prairie look already has a lot of romance, so don’t add more Western on top. Skip the fringe, the hat and the bandana when you wear tiers or a ruffled blouse with cowboy boots. One soft piece and one serious boot is the whole outfit.
Quick answers
Does Chloé make cowboy boots? Yes. For Fall 2026, Chloé’s Western-inspired Azelan boot has a pointed toe, a Cuban heel and a hand-embroidered logo strap, and was $1,990 on chloe.com when we checked.
What did Chloé show for Fall 2026? A prairie and folk collection by Chemena Kamali: tiered mousseline skirts, faded checks, Tyrolean knits, Victorian blouses, clogs, Western boots and thigh-high Musketeer boots, according to Vogue Runway.
Is there a cheaper alternative to Chloé cowboy boots? The Dan Post Maria is a leather snip-toe cowboy boot that was $249.95 when we checked. It has a shorter 13-inch shaft, a lower 2-inch heel and a snip toe rather than a pointed one, so it is an alternative, not a copy.
What do you wear with Chloé-style cowboy boots? A tiered or check midi, or a ruffled blouse with dark bootcut jeans. Let the boot be the only Western piece.
Prices were checked October 20, 2026, and change often: Chloé Azelan $1,990, Dan Post Maria $249.95 (Black), Kingfancy tiered midi skirt $25.19 (Brown), Wenrine plaid midi dress $39.99, PrettyGuide Victorian blouse $35.99 and Levi’s 725 High Rise Bootcut from $37.08 (price varies by wash and size).
