Demna’s Gucci, Without the Logos: The One Piece Worth Taking to Texas

The one piece from Gucci Fall 2026 worth bringing to Texas is the tailored jacket. Demna’s debut for the house was loud, sexy and full of logos, but its suits were cut fluid and soft, and on the runway they came out with knee-high boots. Leave the GG tights and logo boots behind, keep the navy jacket, and wear it with a tall cowboy boot and dark denim or a short skirt. Below are three ways to do it, one night-out option, and the Texas-made boot we’d pair with it.
Demna showed his first Gucci collection in Milan in February 2026, nearly a year after he was hired away from Balenciaga. Vogue Runway’s Nicole Phelps wrote that the set was a “museum” inside the Palazzo delle Scintille, complete with copies of Roman statues scanned with the Uffizi’s permission, and that the clothes leaned on Tom Ford’s late-’90s Gucci for their sex appeal. The Business of Fashion called it the most anticipated show of Milan Fashion Week and also its most polarizing. This guide is part of Runway to Ranch, our series on wearing one runway idea with real Texas boots.

Why the jacket, and why not the rest
Most of the 83 looks are hard to wear anywhere, let alone Texas. There were shrink-wrapped muscle tees, stretch tube dresses, gowns slit to the hip, and a diamond-studded GG thong on Kate Moss, who closed the show. But both of the big reviews pointed to the tailoring as a high point. Vogue called it “one of the collection’s strong points, cut fluid and often in a fabric with a high sheen.” WWD said “fluid tailored suits in liquid-like fabrics stood out, with low-cut jackets and trousers with horizontal pockets.”
We looked for a true Western piece in the collection and didn’t find one. No cowboy boots, no conchos, no fringe. The closest things are Gucci’s own equestrian history, the horsebit hardware that Vogue spotted on bags, and what WWD called “supple leather boots” pulled up to the knee. That’s enough. A soft, slightly shiny jacket over a tall boot is already halfway to a Texas outfit, and the boot is the easy part to swap.
Take the tailoring, leave the logos. A fluid navy jacket over a tall boot already reads Texas.
Look 1: The navy suit tucked into tall boots
For a Fort Worth gallery night, or a client dinner where a suit is expected but a tie isn’t.

Look 61 is the clearest version of the idea: a navy suit with an open navy shirt, and the trousers pushed into black knee-high boots with a pointed toe. Tucking trousers into a tall boot is an old riding trick, and it works just as well with a cowboy boot, as long as the trouser is slim enough to sit smoothly inside the shaft. If your suit trousers are too full, wear the jacket with slim dark jeans instead and tuck those.
The formula: a navy jacket, a navy or black shirt, slim trousers or dark jeans, and a black tall boot with a snip or pointed toe.
Look 2: The jacket, a short skirt and tall boots
For a Saturday night in Austin, or a dance hall where you still want to look a little expensive.

Look 60 puts an oversized navy double-breasted jacket over a black turtleneck and a navy mini skirt, finished with tall brown boots. On the runway the tights and boots carry a pattern. That’s the logo part to leave in Milan. In Texas, swap in sheer black tights or bare legs and a plain tall cowboy boot in brown or black. A boxy jacket, a short hem and a tall boot balance each other out, and it’s the most flirtatious way to wear tailoring with Western boots.
The formula: an oversized navy jacket, a black turtleneck, a short navy or black skirt, and a tall brown or black boot.
Look 3: Light-wash jeans, made polished
For a Hill Country weekend lunch, or a holiday market in Dallas.

Gucci even sent denim down the runway. Look 54 paired light-wash straight-leg jeans and a black belt with a cream furry strapless top layered over black leather, plus pointed black pumps. The furry top is a lot for a Texas afternoon, but the idea underneath it is useful: one rich, textured piece makes ordinary jeans look dressed up. Try a shearling collar or a cropped faux-fur jacket over a black knit, a plain black belt, and a pointed cowboy boot under the jeans instead of the pumps.
The formula: light-wash straight jeans, a black knit, one textured layer, and a black pointed boot.
After dark: the long coat and leather pants

Look 59 is all black: an ankle-length coat over a black turtleneck and slim leather pants. It’s the easiest look in the collection to copy for a cold night in Dallas or Houston. Swap the pumps for a black cowboy boot worn under the leather pants, and keep the jewelry to one gold piece. If you want to take it further, toward black tie, our guide to Saint Laurent’s tuxedo with cowboy boots shows how.
The tall boot to wear it with
Every look above depends on a tall boot, and that’s the piece to buy from a Texas bootmaker instead of from Milan. The Lucchese Priscilla in Black was $1,095 when we checked. Lucchese calls it its No. 1 bestselling women’s boot and describes it as a knee-skimming pull-on, handcrafted from Vero Goat leather with a vintage-inspired Tioga stitch pattern, handmade in Texas. Its product page lists a snip toe and a leather sole. Black suits Look 1 and the after-dark outfit, and the snip toe slides easily under a slim trouser or jean.

This isn’t a Gucci boot, and it isn’t meant to look like one. The runway pairs are smooth and plain, and the Priscilla has visible stitching up the shaft. That stitching is what makes the outfit read Western instead of Milanese. For more on what you pay for in a handmade boot, see our Lucchese vs. Tecovas comparison.
Where to wear it
- A client dinner or gallery night: Look 1, the navy suit tucked into black tall boots
- A Saturday night out: Look 2, the jacket, a short skirt and tall boots
- A weekend lunch or holiday market: Look 3, light-wash jeans with one textured layer
- A cold night downtown: the long black coat, leather pants and black boots
Modern, not costume
The rule for this one is to let Gucci supply the cut and let Texas supply the boot. Skip the logo belt, the GG tights and the big monogram bag, and you won’t look like you’re wearing a runway look to the feed store. If you like this quieter direction, our guide to Celine’s cowboy boot takes the same idea all the way down to the boot itself.
Quick answers
What did Gucci show for Fall 2026? Demna’s first Gucci collection, shown in Milan in February 2026, had 83 looks according to WWD. It mixed body-conscious stretch pieces and evening gowns with fluid tailoring, brushed shearlings, horsebit bags and supple leather boots.
Who designs Gucci now? Demna, who previously led Balenciaga, is Gucci’s artistic director. Fall 2026 was his runway debut for the house.
Did Gucci Fall 2026 include cowboy boots? Not that we could find. The runway showed knee-high leather boots, loafers and Gucci’s new Manhattan sneaker, but no true Western boots. That’s why we pair the tailoring with a Texas-made cowboy boot.
How do you wear a suit with cowboy boots? Keep the trousers slim enough to tuck into a tall boot, or wear them straight over a shorter boot. A pointed or snip toe looks sharper with tailoring than a square toe.
What’s the most wearable piece from Gucci Fall 2026? The tailored jacket. Vogue and WWD both singled out the fluid tailoring, and a navy or black jacket works with jeans, skirts and boots.
